What data is collected?
I use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand aggregate traffic patterns—page views, referral sources, and approximate geography. GA4 masks IP addresses and does not reveal individual identities. Outside of GA4, the site only stores the preferences you explicitly choose (such as theme or consent choices) in your browser.
If you contact me through the site or subscribe to updates, any details you submit are used solely to reply to you. They are not shared or sold.
Cookies & local storage
GA4 requires cookies to differentiate anonymous visits. Those cookies only load after you tap “Allow analytics” on the consent banner. You can decline at any time, and analytics code will stay disabled until you opt back in.
The site also uses local storage keys for the appearance toggle (theme) and your consent choice
(analytics-consent). These stay on your device and can be cleared by removing site data in your
browser settings.
Your choices
-
Use the consent banner (or clear the
analytics-consententry) to change whether analytics run. - Disable or remove cookies via your browser’s privacy controls—they take precedence over anything on this site.
- Reach out if you would like your prior correspondence removed or updated. You can always contact me at hello@jonkohlmeier.com or through the contact page.
Questions?
Privacy is an ongoing practice. If you spot something unclear or want to request additional details, please send a note. I’ll respond personally and update this page whenever policies change.
